The Calculation Method
A standard year has 365 days, but a leap year has 366. Leap years occur every 4 years, except for years divisible by 100 but not by 400. To simplify this, the average length of a year in the Gregorian calendar is used.

The calculator divides the total number of days you provide by 365.25 to determine the number of full years. The remainder of this calculation represents the leftover days.

Is this calculator 100% accurate for predicting a future date?
No. It gives an accurate duration in years and days but doesn't predict a calendar date. For example, "1 year and 0 days" from March 1, 2023, is March 1, 2024, which is 366 days because 2024 is a leap year. This calculator would show that as "1 year and 1 day" if you entered 366.
